Ready To Purchase A New Mattress? 4 Things You Need To Know

Posted on: 31 January 2022

If you are ready to purchase a new mattress, there are a few things you need to know before you start your mattress buying experience. This will help you have a better mattress buying experience.

Know What Size Mattress You Want

Start by considering the size mattress that you have right now. Do you like the size of mattress that you have right now? Is it too big? Is it too small?

Use your current mattress experience to determine what size mattress you want. If you need a new mattress and are moving into a new space, be sure to measure the space to determine what size mattress will fit in the space. Ideally, you want to have a couple of feet of space to move around your bed on both sides.

Consider Going Big

When shopping for a mattress, this isn't the time to bargain hunt. You spend hours sleeping on your mattress each day, and you should feel comfortable on your mattress. When shopping for a mattress, please consider that you are probably going to use that mattress for a number of years, making the ownership cost much smaller than it seems upfront.

For example, if you spend $1,000 on a mattress and use that mattress for five years, you are only paying $200 a year for the bed or $16.65 per month for a comfortable place to sleep. Consider the long-term value of the mattress you are buying.

Look for a Trial Period

Your mattress needs to be comfortable for you. What is comfortable to you may not be what feels comfortable to someone else. That is why it is always a good idea to look for a mattress that offers a trial period.

If you don't feel like you are getting a good night's sleep during the trial period, you can return the mattress to the store you purchased it from. When examining the trial period, look for a company that will not charge you any restocking or exchange fees.

Know What Type You Like

There are lots of different types of mattresses on the market today. That is why it is essential to know what type of mattress you are interested in purchasing.

An innerspring mattress is a traditional type of mattress, with layers of coils surrounded by comfortable materials such as fibers around them. They generally have a plush topper, coil springs, and high-density foam base.

A foam mattress has a foam topper, memory foam, support foam, and a high-density foam base. The exact configuration can vary, but foam mattresses are made from multiple layers of foam.

A hybrid mattress combined the traits of an innerspring and foam mattress; it has a foam topper, then some memory foam and support foam, followed by coil springs, with a high-density foam base.

Consider all of these to have the best mattress for you.
